Genetic engineering has become a marker of the new age: we have learnt to build spacecrafts, developed advanced information technologies and are constantly trying to become gods by controlling the reality and manipulating genes. Although the idea seems extremely tempting, it is accompanied by a number of negative issues, which, if being taken seriously, make it clear that genetic engineering is a dangerous step towards the destruction of the human race in the world.
First, by trying to change the genes, we commit a crime against the nature. Everything in the eco-system of our planet is interrelated and interconnected and changing one element can have a dramatic effect on its function as a whole.
Moreover, genetic engineering is also a serious ethical problem. Trying to change the laws of nature, a person tries to act as a god. Such attempts make people doubt their place in the universe and the role in the society. The idea that a human being can influence the world so much is overwhelming, but at the same time it raises an important issue: although being able to make immediate changes in today’s reality, a person is totally unable to predict long-term effects. Thus, playing the role of the god, the mankind does not bear any responsibility for the actions performed.
Genetic engineering is an interesting technology, which makes many scientists forget about any precautions. However, nobody can really predict what consequences it can have in the future. Genetic modification can…
