Everywhere you look nowadays there will be an article or a news story on the detriments of teenagers using the Internet: from social networking disasters, to them being scammed out of their (or their parents’) money. However, very few people have taken the time to look at the positive effects of teenagers surfing the Internet, and this is a great shame.
Even with the hectic schedules that people have today, it is still customary for families to find time to talk about a variety of different topics. Depending on the events within the family, as well as around the world, these chats can range from talking about work and school to politics. And while the subjects discussed may change, the feeling derived from spending this time together will be everlasting. There has been a lot of talks lately arguing that the computer will soon replace the book in our life. But is it truly possible? After all, they are both valuable assets of our civilization and possess positive and negative features.
One may say that computers are far more effective because they are much more convenient – unlike them, printed books don’t have an option of automatic search, and in order to find the necessary fragment, you have to look through the entire text. Books are ineffective as a source of containing information, while computer’s hard drive can easily contain many thousands of books, being as transportable as any single volume. Moreover, a computer is more helpful when it is necessary to get some information quickly, for you have nothing to do but enter the necessary word into the search engine and skim through the results, whereas in the case of using books you have to go to the library or a book shop. Typically, when we think of a double standard, we think of the past. Surely, with our modern outlook on life and more women than ever in the workforce, there cannot still be a double standard between the sexes in the form in which it existed before. To figure out what is going on in the world today, we will have to examine the viewpoints of both men and women in the workforce.

I wouldn’t say that 21 Grams by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu has changed my life, for I doubt that such a thing can be said about any work of art, but at least, it made me think about it for quite some time and, although it has been several years since I watched it, I still remember the plot vividly, as well as the general impression it had upon me – that of very sad and very disturbed brilliancy.

If your native language isn’t English, the second one should definitely close this gap, for about 80% of all the useful information that is expressed in any language at all is at least in addition expressed in English as well, so it is an absolute must for any person who is going to consider himself to be a citizen of the world.
